This study used a model of Research and Development Research (RDR). The effectiveness of the test results in the form of a score of pretest and posttest. The test results showed that the effectiveness of the learning process using teaching materials write a values-based education can improve the quality of learning outcomes, quality of teaching, and the planting of the values of character education. This can be evidenced by a comparison score pretest and posttest. Comparison Average score pretest and posttest apparent show improvement. According to interviews with teachers and students also revealed that students are motivated to learn, engaged, enthusiastic, have the courage to ask and express opinions, respect for others, cooperation and mutual help, was able to assess and demonstrate the truth as a reflection of good behavior.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan produk bahan ajar menulis puisi berbasis nilai-nilai karakter pendidikan dalam syair lagu-lagu keroncong ciptaan Gesang untuk siswa SMP kelas VII. Penelitian ini menggunakan model Research and Development Research (DRD). Hasil uji efektivitas berupa skor pretest dan posttest. Hasil uji efektivitas menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan bahan ajar menulis berbasis nilai-nilai pendidikan dapat meningkatkan kualitas hasil belajar, kualitas pembelajaran, dan penanaman nilai-nilai karakter pendidikan. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan perbandingan skor pretest dan posttes. Perbandingan rata-rata skor pretest dan posttest tampak nyata menunjukkan peningkatan.
