Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuasi eksperimen menggunakan Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah kelas X.1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X.2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Pembelajaran di kelas eksperimen dilakukan dengan model pembelajaran berbasis praktikum, sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan pembelajaran dengan metode demonstrasi. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini meliputi seperangkat alat meliputi soal-soal pretes dan postes mengenai kemampuan klasifikasi dan penguasaan konsep, sedangkan angket digunakan untuk mengetahui respon siswa terhadap model pembelajaran berbasis praktikum. Lembar observasi disini digunakan untuk mengetahui kegiatan siswa dalam pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan klasifikasi pada kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis praktikum lebih meningkat dan berbeda secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan pembelajaran dengan metode demonstrasi walaupun keduanya mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan. Sedangkan penguasaan konsep siswa pada kelas eksperimen tidak lebih baik dari kelas kontrol karena perbedaan rata-rata kedua kelas tersebut tidak berbeda secara signifikan. Sementara itu, hasil pengolahan angket menunjukkan bahwa pada umumnya siswa memberikan respon positif terhadap model pembelajaran berbasis praktikum

This study examines the "Influence of Practicum-Based Learning Model in Biological Concept to Classificating and Mastering Concept Capability for School Students". The research method was a quasi-experimental method using Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Subject of this study consist of class X-1 as the experimental class and class X-2 as the control. Learning process in the experiment class was doing by practicum-based learning model. While, the control class was using the demonstration learning method. Instrument in this study includes a set of equipment tests, questionnaires and observation sheets. This set of equipment test includes questions regarding pretest and posttest about classification ability and mastering concepts. While, the questionnaire is used to determine students' responses to practicum-based learning model. Observation sheet is used to students in learning activities. Results show that the experimental class classification capabilities using a practicum-based learning model is more improved significantly than the control class using the method of demonstration learning. Although both have significant improvement, but the differences are significant. While the students' mastering of concepts in the experimental class is no better than control classes due to differences in both average grade was not different significantly.
