Permasalahan ini merupakan temuan dari observasi yang dilakukan pada beberapa kali pertemuan ketika peneliti melakukan praktik mengajar dalam rentang waktu bulan Februari sampai Maret 2016. Indikator permasalahan yang dijumpai adalah motivasi belajar siswa dalam mengikuti pembelajaran IPS yang rendah, kurangnya perhatian siswa, rendahnya antusias siswa dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran, tingkat percaya diri siswa yang rendah, terbatasnya media pembelajaran di kelas sehingga pembelajaran IPS cenderung monoton. Meninjau permasalahan yang akan diteliti berkaitan dengan proses pembelajaran, maka penulis memilih Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan desain penelitian Kemmis dan Mc Taggart yang dilakukan dalam 4 siklus. Alternatif pemecahan masalah yang dipilih yaitu penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Make a Match. Pelaksanaan kegiatan belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Make a Match sebagai upaya dalam peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa terhadap pembelajaran IPS dapat dikatakan berhasil. Adapun peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa dapat dilihat dari beberapa aspek yaitu, tingkat perhatian siswa dalam proses pembelajaran IPS, tingkat kebutuhan atau keinginan siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS, tingkat percaya diri siswa, kepuasan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran IPS. Seluruh aspek ini mengalami peningkatan dari siklus pertama hingga siklus keempat, dari kualitas kurang, cukup, baik, menjadi sangat baik dengan persentase 45%, 65%, 70% dan 85 % pada siklus keempat. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Make a Match dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS. ---;&#xD; &#xD; This research originated from unrest author of the issues raised in class VII-D SMP Negeri 3 Lembang associated with the level of student motivation. These issues are the findings of the observations made at several meetings when researchers do teaching practice within the period from February to March 2016. Indicators of the problems encountered is the student motivation in following a low learning social studies, students' lack of attention, lack of enthusiastic students in participating the learning process, students' confidence level is low, the limited media in the classroom so that learning social studies tend to be monotonous. Reviewing the problems to be studied with regard to the learning process, the authors chose a Classroom Action Research with research design from Kemmis and Mc Taggart research which conducted in 4 cycles. Alternative solutions were selected, namely the use of cooperative learning model Make a Match. Implementation of learning activities using cooperative learning model Make a Match as an effort to improve students' motivation towards learning IPS can be said to be successful. As for the improvement of students' motivation can be seen from several aspects, namely, the level of attention in the learning process of social studies, the level of need or desire of students in social studies learning, the level of confidence of students, student satisfaction in the learning process of social studies. All aspects of this increased from the first cycle to the fourth cycle, of less quality, fairly, well, being very well with a percentage of 45%, 65%, 70% and 85% in the fourth cycle.
