The research subjects were High School students with 37 participants. The study began by identifying problems in &nbsp;by giving mathematics ability test, then proceeding with the provision of cognitive style tests to determine the tendency of students to receive lessons. PTK consists of two cycles, namely cycle I and II by giving treatment according to the dominant cognitive style in the class, namely visualizer in order to reduce the cognitive burden felt by students. The results showed that mathematics learning outcomes had increased. This can be seen in the average score of the mathematics learning outcomes test in the first cycle was 66.27 in the categorization table in the low category, while the average score of the mathematics learning outcomes of students in the second cycle was 78.92 in the medium category. While the classical completeness of students in the first cycle was only 51.35% and as many as 18 students had not yet reached KKM. Classical completeness in the second cycle reached 89.19% and as many as 7 students had not yet reached KKM. From these results it was concluded that cognitive load reduction can improve the mathematics learning outcomes of high school students.

Abstrak
Penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika melalui pengurangan beban kognitif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X SMA 4 Ternate berjumlah 37 orang. Penelitian dimulai dengan mengidentifikasi masalah di kelas X dengan memberikan tes kemampuan awal, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pemberian tes gaya kognitif untuk mengetahui kecendrungan siswa dalam menerima pelajaran. PTK terdiri dari dua siklus yaitu siklus I dan II dengan memberikan treatment sesuai dengan gaya kognitif yang dominant di kelas tersebut yaitu visualizer dalam rangka mengurangi beban kognitif yang dirasakan oleh siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Hasil belajar matematika mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini dapat dilihat pada skor rata-rata skor tes hasil belajar matematika pada siklus I adalah 66,27 dalam tabel kategorisasi berada dikategori rendah, sedangkan rata-rata skor tes hasil belajar matematika siswa pada siklus II adalah 78,92 berada dikategori sedang. Sedangkan ketuntasan klasikal siswa pada siklus I hanya 51,35% dan sebanyak 18 siswa yang belum mencapai KKM. Ketuntasan klasikal pada siklus II mencapai 89,19% dan sebanyak 7 siswa yang belum mencapai KKM. Dari hasil tersebut disimpulkan bahwa pengurangan beban kognitif dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa SMA.
