- This paper displays an exceptionally scaled down fix radio wire with defected ground structure (DGS). Etching a slot on the ground plane is called defected ground structure. This helps in enhancing the gain of the antenna and suppressing higher order harmonics. A U slot is made on the ground plane to obtain this DGS. Shorting pin techniques are used for the perfect impedance matching. The resonant frequency of the proposed patch antenna is 5 GHz with a return loss of -18 dB. The gain increased from 1.3 by a regular ground plane to 3.351 when used a defected ground plane.
