Vincent leg. 2 of them with respectively Barcode ID ARCTA 379-07, Sample ID BEVI0097 and Barcode ID ARCTA 378-07, Sample ID BEVI0096. All in BVC Description. Head.Antennaebipectinated.Flagellumyellowinitsproximalhalf,browninitsdistalhalf.Pectination brown, lighter at apex.Frons and vertex light brown.Labial palpi with light-brown inner side and dark-brown outer side. Thorax: Patagia light brown with two small black punctuations on each side of the median axis, near the insertion of the head. Pterygodes light brown, very hairy with a brown punctuation on their base. Thorax concolorous with the pterygodes, slightly clearer at the intertion with the abdomen. Ventrally the thorax is very hairy and has the same color, except the insertion area between the head and the first pair of legs which is darker. First pair of legs with femurs yellow on the dorsal side, light brown on the ventral side. Tibias and tarsi brown on the dorsal side, light brown on the ventral side. Second and third pairs light brown with brown spots that almost completely cover the tarsi. Forewing. (Lenght: 25 mm; Wingspan: 53 mm). Light brown marked by dark brown bands distributed as follows: a basal band, broken and interrupted towards the inner edge, a post-basal band and a broken antemedian band. However, in the central zone of the wing, they become lighter and barely discernable from with the ground color of the wing. A broad median band narrows gradually towards the inner edge. It merges with the reniform spot and constitutes a dark zone which contrasts, in the upper half, with the ground color of the wing. Presence of a broken contrasting postmedian band near the costa, less contrasted on the rest of the wing. Finally, a discontinuous subterminal line is formed by an alignment of patches slightly darker than the ground color of the wing and located between the veins. Between the M1 and M2, presence of a brown punctuation. Fringe concolorous with the ground color of the wing. Hindwing. White semihyaline. Apical half of the outer margin with brown punctuation between each vein. The area formed by these punctuations is highlighted by a diffuse patch of brown scales. Fringe concolorous with the ground color of the wing. Below the wings with an ornamentation comparable to the dorsal face. Abdomen. In dorsal view, proximal half covered with long, light gray hairs at insertion with the thorax and gradually darkening into dark brown. Apical half, bright yellow with a narrow black median band, and large black rectangular marks on the latero posterior border of the tergites. Ventrally the abdomen is light beige, marked by large brown spots highlighted with black, along the median axis. They cover almost all the sternites of segments A5&#x2013;7. On segment A8, this spot is rounded, in the center of the sternite. On the edges of this segment, presence of a small brown punctuation. Male Genitalia. Uncus broad at the base, marked by two slight protuberances. It narrows into a thin sharp blade before expanding at the apical end into a large spatula. The central area of the uncus is hollowed out by a deep median furrow. Tegumen with two arms shorter than the uncus. Symmetrical, long and narrow valvae protruding beyond the apical end of the uncus. Juxta scarcely sclerotized. Vinculum very narrow terminating in a saccus in the form of a very large tongue, very slightly sclerotized and folded ventrally. Transtilla very broad, sclerotized in the form of slightly twisted ribbon. Apical end shaped as an asymmetrical spatula; the inner edge (in ventral view) is very long and very thin with a hook-shaped end. Aedeagus elongated, slightly curved with a reduced caecum penis. Vesica wide, pluri-lobed. One of the lobes is tubular with a small area of tiny cornuti at its base. Description of the female female paratype. Female identical to male excepted the following differences: Antennae with pectinations shorter than male. Wingspan and lenght of the forewing slightly larger, respectively 54 mm and 26 mm. Genitalia. Triangular antevaginal lamella, strongly incised on its posterior border. Short anal papillae, subrectangular. Presence of a short pair of pseudopapillae. Apophyses posteriores and anteriores straight. Apophysis anteriores very short. Ductus bursae rectangular, elongated, narrowed strongly at the insertion of the corpus bursae. Corpus bursae globular and smooth. Early stages: Unknown Etymology. The specific epithet, flavoabdominalis, refers to the bright yellow coloration of the apical half of the abdominal tergite, the most discriminating character of the habitus with the closest species L. latepunctata. Distribution. Lophocampa flavoabdominalis n. sp. is known from the Sierra Bahoruco National Park and the province of Monse&#xF1;or Nouel.</description><description>Published as part of Vincent, Benoit, 2020, Description of five new Lophocampa Harris from the Dominican Republic (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Arctiinae), pp. 93-106 in Zootaxa 4780 (1) on pages 102-103, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4780.1.4, http://zenodo.org/record/3990752</description><identifier>https://zenodo.org/record/4328792</identifier><identifier>10.5281/zenodo.4328792</identifier><identifier>oai:zenodo.org:4328792</identifier><relation>info:eu-repo/semantics/altIdentifier/url/http://treatment.plazi.org/id/03A087F6A817FFA2F5B2948E359F018A</relation><relation>doi:10.11646/zootaxa.4780.1.4</relation><relation>url:http://zenodo.org/record/3990752</relation><relation>url:http://publication.plazi.org/id/FF99FF8EA81EFFA8F5259414347C0001</relation><relation>doi:10.5281/zenodo.3990758</relation><relation>doi:10.5281/zenodo.3990760</relation><relation>doi:10.5281/zenodo.3990762</relation><relation>url:http://zoobank.org/603D862A-2A0A-45D7-9681-30F4222355AF</relation><relation>doi:10.5281/zenodo.4328791</relation><relation>url:https://zenodo.org/communities/biosyslit</relation><rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</rights><source>Description of five new Lophocampa Harris from the Dominican Republic (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Arctiinae), pp. 93-106 in Zootaxa 4780(1) 102-103</source><subject>Biodiversity</subject><subject>Taxonomy</subject><subject>Animalia</subject><subject>Arthropoda</subject><subject>Insecta</subject><subject>Lepidoptera</subject><subject>Arctiidae</subject><subject>Lophocampa</subject><subject>Lophocampa flavoabdominalis</subject><title>Lophocampa flavoabdominalis Vincent 2020, new species</title><type>Other:info:eu-repo/semantics/other</type><type>Other:publication-taxonomictreatment</type><recordID>4328792</recordID></dc>
