(Brazil) Carineta obtusa Walker 1858b: 14. (Brazil) Carineta tenuistriga Walker 1858c: 311. (Tejuca, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Carineta diplographa Berg 1879: 212. (Misiones) Carineta bilineosa (non Walker) Jacobi 1907a: 15, Plate 1, Fig. 21. Carineta bilineosa (non Walker) Goding 1925: 9, 19. REMARKS.—The status of C. bilineosa was recently investigated and the species status revised to that of a valid species (Sanborn 2019b). The images of the Germar type (or at least what Germar considered to be C. fasciculata) located on the website (http://zoomus.lviv.ua/en/germar_collection/) of the Zoological Museum, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, L’viv, Ukraine (ZMD) has allowed for a definitive distinction of C. bilineosa from C. fasciculata. The specimen in the ZMD is part of the Germar collection and verifies what Germar considered to be his taxon. Martinelli & Zucchi (1997) illustrate the distribution of what they considered to be C. fasciculata (actually C. bilineosa). These data suggest that C. bilineosa is restricted to grassland, savannah, open forest habitats, xeric shrublands and agricultural areas (as defined by Leeuwen et al. 2013) of eastern and southern Brazil, northeastern Argentina, eastern Paraguay and northeastern Bolivia (Martinelli & Zucchi 1997). DISTRIBUTION.—The species as it is now defined has been reported from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay (Metcalf 1963c; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Maccagnan & Martinelli 2011; Sanborn 2011b; 2013; 2018c; 2019b). Previous records to Ecuador are considered misidentifications of Carineta maculosa (Sanborn 2019b) as Carineta bilineosa appears to have a more southern and eastern distribution as described above.</description><description>Published as part of Sanborn, Allen F., 2020, The cicadas (Hemiptera: Cicadidae) of Ecuador including the description of five new species, a new subtribe, four new synonymies, and fifteen new records, pp. 1-80 in Zootaxa 4880 (1) on page 70, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4880.1.1, http://zenodo.org/record/4425522</description><identifier>https://zenodo.org/record/4573954</identifier><identifier>10.5281/zenodo.4573954</identifier><identifier>oai:zenodo.org:4573954</identifier><relation>info:eu-repo/semantics/altIdentifier/url/http://treatment.plazi.org/id/03DE878CFFBDFF95FF3B7380D4D9F929</relation><relation>doi:10.11646/zootaxa.4880.1.1</relation><relation>url:http://zenodo.org/record/4425522</relation><relation>url:http://publication.plazi.org/id/FFE7FFF4FFF8FFD0FFAC7050D010FFCE</relation><relation>url:http://zoobank.org/33BE91BC-DC0F-4CBB-85AB-CA7BF1891C0C</relation><relation>doi:10.5281/zenodo.4573953</relation><relation>url:https://zenodo.org/communities/biosyslit</relation><rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</rights><source>The cicadas (Hemiptera: Cicadidae) of Ecuador including the description of five new species, a new subtribe, four new synonymies, and fifteen new records, pp. 1-80 in Zootaxa 4880(1) 70</source><subject>Biodiversity</subject><subject>Taxonomy</subject><subject>Animalia</subject><subject>Arthropoda</subject><subject>Insecta</subject><subject>Hemiptera</subject><subject>Cicadidae</subject><subject>Carineta</subject><subject>Carineta bilineosa</subject><title>Carineta bilineosa Walker 1858</title><type>Other:info:eu-repo/semantics/other</type><type>Other:publication-taxonomictreatment</type><recordID>4573954</recordID></dc>
