Reported in surface waters by Vinogradov et al. (1996). Garc&#xED;a Madrigal (2007) reported a 0&#x2012;3220 m depth distributional range. It was one of the two most abundant species in this survey.</description><description>Published as part of Gasca, Rebeca &amp; Hendrickx, Michel E., 2021, Pelagic amphipods (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Hyperiidea) in western Mexico. 3 Family Lestrigonidae, pp. 169-187 in Zootaxa 4974 (1) on pages 175-176, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4974.1.8, http://zenodo.org/record/4772335</description><identifier>https://zenodo.org/record/4917699</identifier><identifier>10.5281/zenodo.4917699</identifier><identifier>oai:zenodo.org:4917699</identifier><relation>info:eu-repo/semantics/altIdentifier/url/http://treatment.plazi.org/id/EC62878D5142BF3FFF0FD9A7FDAE08F5</relation><relation>doi:10.11646/zootaxa.4974.1.8</relation><relation>url:http://zenodo.org/record/4772335</relation><relation>url:http://publication.plazi.org/id/105BFFF55144BF38FF98DA2CFF990F5A</relation><relation>doi:10.5281/zenodo.4772343</relation><relation>url:http://zoobank.org/F2BE279E-5F7C-48E5-8D47-70974C8E9781</relation><relation>doi:10.5281/zenodo.4917698</relation><relation>url:https://zenodo.org/communities/biosyslit</relation><rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</rights><rights>https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/legalcode</rights><source>Pelagic amphipods (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Hyperiidea) in western Mexico. 3 Family Lestrigonidae, pp. 169-187 in Zootaxa 4974(1) 175-176</source><subject>Biodiversity</subject><subject>Taxonomy</subject><subject>Animalia</subject><subject>Arthropoda</subject><subject>Malacostraca</subject><subject>Amphipoda</subject><subject>Lestrigonidae</subject><subject>Lestrigonus</subject><subject>Lestrigonus bengalensis</subject><title>Lestrigonus bengalensis Giles 1887</title><type>Other:info:eu-repo/semantics/other</type><type>Other:publication-taxonomictreatment</type><recordID>4917699</recordID></dc>

In the eastern Pacific from the west coast of Baja California to the Galapagos Islands (García Madrigal 2007). Remarks. According to Siegel-Causey (1982: 177, fig. 69), L. bengalensis is strongly epipelagic but features a very wide overall depth distribution, ranging from surface to depths> 2200 m. Reported in surface waters by Vinogradov et al. (1996). García Madrigal (2007) reported a 0‒3220 m depth distributional range. It was one of the two most abundant species in this survey.
