- Desmodus rotundus (Geoffroy St.-Hilaire 1810) Distribution. From Mexico southward Central and South America to northern Argentina, northwestern Chile, and Uruguay. This species is found in almost all Brazilian states, except in Rio Grande do Norte and Tocantins states (Peracchi et al. 2006). Habitat. Restricted to warmer climates, it occurs in a large variety of habitats, roosting in places as caves, human buildings, hollow trees, and drain pipes (Greenhall et al. 1983; Reis et al. 2007). All specimens were collected in a pasture field near to limestone outcrops (14 o 30’ 25.4” S, 46 o 43’ 51.5” W) in Alvorada do Norte, GO. Voucher specimens. 10 females – CHUNB 1146, 1151, 1152, 1166, 1177, 1262, 1271, 1273, 1275, and 1276; 11 males – CHUNB 1150, 1162, 1163, 1164, 1165, 1167, 1263, 1264, 1270, 1272, and 1274.
