As for T. carinata but elytra more rounded and with slightly longer vestiture on tubercles. Aedeagus as in Fig. 105. Geographical distribution. Guatemala (Quezaltenango). Natural history. Collected from berlese extraction of cloud forest leaf litter at an elevation of 2450m. Derivation of specific name. Named after François Génier of Gatineau, Québec, Canada. Material examined. 2♂, 1♀ (CMNC). Holotype ♂ (CMNC): GUATEMALA: Quezaltenango. 12 km S.E. Zunil, Fuentes Georginas, 2460m, 27.V.1991, R. Anderson, cloud forest litter, 91-29 / HOLOTYPE ♂, Theognete genieri sp. nov. R.S. Anderson. Paratypes: GUATEMALA. Quezaltenango. Fuentes Georginas (12 km S.E. Zunil), 2460m, 27.V.1991, R. Anderson, cloud forest litter, 91-29 (1♀ CMNC). Fuentes Georginas (12 km S.E. Zunil), 2450m, 16.VI.1993, R. Anderson, cloud forest litter, 93-1E (1♂ CMNC). Chorological relationships. Not sympatric with any other species of Theognete.
