This species, originally placed in Diplectanum by Mendoza Franco et al. (2008), is transferred to Neodiplectanum as N. gatunense n. comb.. This species resembles N. magnodiscatum by sharing spine-like rodlets in the posterior rows of the squamodiscs with three axes, and a dorsal bar with constriction at the end.
