Thus, E. charon could be euryhaline. However, records from freshwaters were recognized as misidentifications of E. moebiusi (for review, see Foissner et al. 1991). As yet A. charon has been reported from Africa, America, Europe, and Asia (Dragesco &amp; Dragesco-Kern&#xE9;is 1986; Song &amp; Warren 2009). There are only older data on occurrence of E. charon from the territory of Slovakia. Specifically, Hanu&#x161;ka (1962, 1971) reported it from the Nitra and Bebrava rivers and Madlen (1946) from forest soils in Central and Nothern Slovakia (localities were not closer specified). Only Madlen&#x2019;s (1946) record is accompanied by a drawing that, however, does not enable to support correctenes of his identification. Since any record of E. charon from the territory of Slovakia cannot be reliably verified, we consider them as misidentifications of E. moebiusi.</description><description>Published as part of Tirjakov&#xE1;, Eva, Botl&#xED;kov&#xE1;, Simona &amp; V&#x10F;a&#x10D;n&#xFD;, Peter, 2015, Checklist and distribution of ciliates from the family Euplotidae Ehrenberg, 1838 (Protista: Ciliophora: Spirotrichea) in Slovakia, Central Europe, pp. 343-365 in Zootaxa 3920 (2) on page 350, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.3920.2.7, http://zenodo.org/record/245708</description><identifier>https://zenodo.org/record/6101491</identifier><identifier>10.5281/zenodo.6101491</identifier><identifier>oai:zenodo.org:6101491</identifier><relation>info:eu-repo/semantics/altIdentifier/url/http://treatment.plazi.org/id/03C1879B8317FF32FF7A3F62C911F92A</relation><relation>doi:10.11646/zootaxa.3920.2.7</relation><relation>url:http://zenodo.org/record/245708</relation><relation>url:http://publication.plazi.org/id/FFF8FFE38310FF35FFED3A2FCB7CFFC5</relation><relation>url:http://zoobank.org/D1D70F75-4D98-4681-AFBC-B8B6954B249F</relation><relation>doi:10.5281/zenodo.6101490</relation><relation>url:https://zenodo.org/communities/biosyslit</relation><rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</rights><rights>https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/legalcode</rights><source>Checklist and distribution of ciliates from the family Euplotidae Ehrenberg, 1838 (Protista: Ciliophora: Spirotrichea) in Slovakia, Central Europe, pp. 343-365 in Zootaxa 3920(2) 350</source><subject>Biodiversity</subject><subject>Taxonomy</subject><subject>Protozoa</subject><subject>Ciliophora</subject><subject>Hypotrichea</subject><subject>Euplotida</subject><subject>Euplotidae</subject><subject>Euplotes</subject><subject>Euplotes charon</subject><title>Euplotes charon (Muller, 1773) Ehrenberg 1830</title><type>Other:info:eu-repo/semantics/other</type><type>Other:publication-taxonomictreatment</type><recordID>6101491</recordID></dc>
