Found in shallow coastal waters, entering lagoons, estuaries and rivers, 0– 3 m. Freshwater, transitional water and marine. Crenimugil heterocheilos (Bleeker, 1855) —Half fringelip mullet STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on AMS and WAM material (AMS I. 16668 -010; WAM P. 29596 -013). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Indonesia and Philippines to Vanuatu, north to southern Japan, south to New Caledonia. Found in shallow coastal waters, entering lagoons, estuaries and rivers, 0– 3 m. Freshwater, transitional water and marine. Ellochelon vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard, 1825) —Squaretail mullet, yellowtail mullet. STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang as Mugil vaigiensis by Duncker & Mohr (1926: 131). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. East Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Marshall, Gambier and Marquesas islands, north to southern Japan, south to Shark Bay (Western Australia), New South Wales (Australia), New Caledonia and Rapa. Found in shallow coastal waters, entering lagoons, estuaries and rivers, 0– 3 m. Freshwater, transitional water and marine. Moolgarda buchanani (Bleeker, 1854) —Bluetail mullet STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on AMS and WAM material (AMS I. 16662 -002, I. 16669 -011, I. 16670 -026, I. 16670 -030; WAM P. 27411 -010). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT.
