Distribution in Iran. East Azarbaijan (Ghahari et al. 2010 a), Fars (Ostovan & Arefnia 2011), Guilan (Linnavuori & Hosseini 2000), Kordestan (Sakenin et al. 2010; Samin et al. 2011), Mazandaran (Sakenin et al. 2011). General distribution. HoloPalearctic, reaching to Burma, India, Thailand, and Vietnam (Andersen 1995; Fent et al. 2011). Aquarius ventralis (Fieber, 1860) Hydrometra ventralis Fieber, 1860: 107 (as new species). Distribution in Iran. Hamadan (Samin et al. 2011, as A. najas), West Azerbaijan (Sakenin et al. 2010, as A. najas). General distribution. Ponto-Mediterranean (Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Near East). Comment. The previous records of the similar but vicariant species Aquaris najas (De Geer, 1773) from Iran as well as from neighboring Turkey, belong to this species (cf.
