Pedicularis multicaulis W.B.Yu, H.Wang & D.Z.Li (series Oliganthae Prain) is a new species described and illustrated herein. This new species is endemic to northwest Yunnan and only two populations were found in Weixi county. Phylogenetic analyses support P. multicaulis as a new species, sister to P. taihaiensis Bonati and P. macilenta Franch. Morphological comparisons between P. multicaulis and P. macilenta and P. taihaiensis also support P. multicaulis as a new species to science.</description><identifier>https://zenodo.org/record/3387856</identifier><identifier>10.3897/phytokeys.130.35258</identifier><identifier>oai:zenodo.org:3387856</identifier><publisher>Pensoft Publishers</publisher><relation>doi:10.3897/phytokeys.130.35258.figure3</relation><relation>doi:10.3897/phytokeys.130.35258.figure4</relation><relation>doi:10.3897/phytokeys.130.35258.figure5</relation><relation>doi:10.3897/phytokeys.130.35258.figure1</relation><relation>doi:10.3897/phytokeys.130.35258.figure2</relation><relation>doi:10.3897/phytokeys.130.35258.suppl1</relation><relation>doi:10.3897/phytokeys.130.35258.suppl2</relation><relation>url:https://zenodo.org/communities/biosyslit</relation><rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</rights><rights>https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode</rights><source>PhytoKeys 130 205-215</source><subject>Plantae</subject><subject>Tracheophyta</subject><subject>Magnoliopsida</subject><subject>Lamiales</subject><subject>Orobanchaceae</subject><subject>Pedicularis</subject><subject>Orobanchaceae</subject><subject>Pedicularis multicaulis</subject><subject>Mountains of Southwest China</subject><subject>phylogenetic analysis</subject><title>Taxonomic and nomenclatural notes on Pedicularis (Orobanchaceae): I.
