- With the significant advances of Brazilian universities in the participation of patenting production, Brazil has gained prominence in the innovative scenario. In order to show an example of progress in this regard, the present study aimed to study innovation at the Federal University of Sergipe through the number of patent filings made by researchers from the institution. This research has an exploratory and descriptive character, with a quantitative approach in which the patentometric technique was used to analyze the data. The survey of these was carried out in the Innovation and Technology Transfer Coordination of the institution under study and also in the database of the National Institute of Industrial Property. It can be concluded from this research that of the two departments that exist in the institution, two of them are the most important actors and depositors of patents: the Center of Exact Sciences and Technology and the Center of Biological and Health Sciences. Exact Sciences and Technology presents itself as the largest patent depositor, having performed from the year 2002, but the Center for Biological Sciences and Health despite presenting a smaller number of patents deposited stood out with more patents with co-titularity presenting itself as an important department in the collaborative work.
