Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji efek analgesik ekstrak etanol 70% bunga mawar (Rosa chinensis Jacq.). Dalam penelitian ini digunakan metode Sigmund (metode geliat) pada 25 ekor mencit jantan yang telah lulus uji kepekaan, dibagi dalam 5 kelompok, yaitu kelompok I sebagai kontrol negatif diberikan CMC 0,5%, kelompok II sebagai kontrol positif diberikan asetosal, kelompok III, IV dan V diberikan ekstrak bunga mawar berturut-turut sebesar 0,005; 0,01 dan 0,02 g/20 g BB mencit,. Masing-masing kelompok diberikan bahan uji secara oral, satu jam kemudian diinduksi dengan asam asetat 0,6% secara intraperitoneal, setelah sepuluh menit diamati dan dihitung jumlah geliat dengan interval lima menit selama satu jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, dosis I (0,005 g/20 g BB mencit) dan dosis II (0,01 g/20 g BB mencit) memberikan persentase proteksi berturut-turut (89,12% dan 73,69%) dan persentase efektivitas yang tinggi (98,15% dan 81,16%), dan hampir setara dengan kontrol positif yaitu asetosal dengan dosis 13 mg/20 g BB mencit yang memberikan persentase proteksi 90,80% dan persentase efektivitas 100%. &lt;hr&gt; &lt;b&gt;ABSTRACT&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br&gt; In the previous study the analgesic effect of some rose (Rosa damascena, Rosa multiflora, Rosa canina, Rosa hybrida) was investigated. The aim of this study was to investigate analgesic effect of the ethanol extract 70% of Rose (Rosa chinensis Jacq.). This study used Sigmund method (writhing method) at 25 male mice which have passed sensitivity test, divided into five groupes. Group I as negative control was administered 0,5% CMC, group II as positive control was administered acetosal, group III, IV and V was administered extract of rose at 0,005; 0,01 and 0,02 g/20 g BW. One hour before intraperitonial injection of acetic acid 0,6%, drugs were orally administered to mice. The number of writhings exhibited by each animal was counted for one hour with interval five minute beginning ten minute after acetic acid induction.
