- <b>ABSTRAK</b><br> Portal berita online menjadi satu produk dari perkembangan teknologi internet di dunia jurnalisme. Kemunculan media baru ini sejalan dengan perkembangan audiens yang semakin dinamis dalam mencari informasi di media massa. Populasi portal berita online di Indonesia yang terus tumbuh membuat persaingan industri portal berita online menjadi ketat. Media online berupaya merebut hati pembacanya dengan menyajikan informasi yang mampu menjawab kebutuhan audiens. Kepuasan audiens akan sajian informasi yang ditawarkan oleh portal berita online menjadi dasar penelitian untuk melihat tingkat persaingan yang terjadi. Menggunakan teori uses and gratifications penulis mencoba melihat motif audiens dalam mengakses portal berita online, dan kepuasan audiens akan terpenuhinya motif tersebut. Penelitian ini pada akhirnya memaparkan tingkat superioritas antar media online. <hr> <b>ABSTRACT</b><br> The advancement of technology in internet leads to the existence of a new product in journalism world; that is online news portal. The emergence of this new media is parallel with the advancement of the even smarter audience who becomes dynamics in searching information in mass media. The number of online news portal in Indonesia which keeps increasing leads to tougher competition in the industry of online news portal. Online media keeps trying to win the heart of the audience by presenting information that can meet the need of the audience. The audience's satisfaction on the presentation of the information offered by online news portal became the basis of the research to study the level of existing competition. By using a theory of uses and gratifications, the writer tries to study the audience's motif in accessing online news portal besides their satisfaction on the fulfillment of that motif. This research, at last, exposed the level of superiority among online news portals.
