- This research aimed to find out the effectiveness of Socrates Contextual Learning in terms of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding ability. This quasi-experimental research used one group pretest-posttest design. The population of this research was all students of grade VII of SMP Negeri 19 Bandarlampung in academic year of 2015/2016. By purposive sampling technique, it was chosen students of VII C class as the research sample. The research data were obtained by mathematical conceptual understanding ability test. Based on hypothesis testing, it can be concluded that Socrates Contextual Learning was not effective in terms of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding ability.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas Pembelajaran Socrates Kontekstual ditinjau dari kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Penelitian kuasi eksperimen ini menggunakan desain one group pretest-posttest. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 19 Bandarlampung tahun pelajaran 2015/2016. Dengan teknik purposive sampling terpilih siswa kelas VII C sebagai sampel penelitian. Data penelitian diperoleh dari tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematik. Berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis, disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran Socrates Kontekstual tidak efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.Kata kunci: efektivitas, pemahaman konsep matematis, socrates kontekstual
