Diakui bahwa perkembangan studi hadis era modern terjadi perdebatan serius dari kaum modernis. Hal ini tidak selaras dengan keyakinan umat muslim yang berpandangan bahwa hadis adalah sumber kedua setelah Alquran. Artikel ini menjelaskan dinamika studi hadis kaum modernis dalam telaah hadis. Akar perdebatan muncul karena pemahaman kaum modernis yang cenderung meragukan beberapa hal seperti otentistas hadis nabi Saw, otoritas kenabian Muhammad Saw, dan kewahyuan hadis. Hadis merupakan jembatan yang mengubungkan dengan konteks masa lalu kehidupan zaman nabi Saw yang kemudian dijadikan sebagai refleksi spiritual kaum muslim untuk menentukan hukum di era sekarang. Dengan melihat wajah peradaban masa lalu secara lengkap, maka perselisihan paham keagamaan di era sekarang dapat diminimalisir. Tumbuhkembangnya hadis salah satunya ditentukan dari tiga hal penting yakni kuatnya aqidah dari kaum muslim, mendirikan lembaga khusus dalam bidang perkembangan hadis, dan mengembangkan kajian oksidentalisme sebagai upaya filter kajian orientalisme yang dilakukan pemikir Barat.

Abstract
It is acknowledged that the development of hadith studies in the modern era has resulted in serious debates from modernists. This is inconsistent with the beliefs of Muslims who view that hadith is the second source after the Koran. This article describes the dynamics of modernist hadith studies in hadith studies. The root of the debate arises from the understanding of modernists who tend to doubt a number of things, such as the authenticity of the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, the authority of the Prophet Muhammad, and the revelation of the hadith. Hadith is a bridge that connects with the context of the past life of the Prophet's era which is then used as a spiritual reflection for Muslims to determine the law in the present era. By looking at the face of past civilizations in full, religious disagreements in the present era can be minimized. The growth and development of hadith is determined by three important things, namely the strong aqeedah of Muslims, establishing a special institution in the field of hadith development, and developing studies of occidentalism as a filter for orientalism studies by Western thinkers.

Abstrak
