These plants contain high secondary metabolites in the leaves. Phenolics and terpenoids as parts of secondary metabolites have an allelopathic effects which give negative interaction with another organism as a defense mechanism. The aim of this work was to assess the changes of phenolics and terpenoids type and composition in the leaf of different ages. Extraction of secondary metabolites were made by maceration using khloroform, methanol, ethanol : water and n-hexane. Phenolics and terpenoids extracts from different leaf age were analyzed qualitatively by TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) and quantitatively by GC &#xE2;&#xFFFD;&#xFFFD; MS ( Gass Chromatography Mass Spectra). Total phenolics compound (TPC) was measured by spectrophotometry methods using Folin Ciocalteau reagent. Leaf anatomy on different age were observed under light microscope, leaf tissue thickness measured by Image Raster Optilab. TLC were observed under UV 254 nm, 366 nm and using FeCl3, sulfuric acid anisaldehyde reagents. GC &#xE2;&#xFFFD;&#xFFFD; MS analysis indicated a changes in levels and types of phenolics and terpenoids components of leaf extracts of different age. Total phenolics compound in acacia is higher than in teak and change according to the age of the leaf. Leaf cross section of teak showed the presence of trichomes as a site of secondary metabolites accumulation. Thickness of mechanical tissues increases with leaf age.</description><publisher>[Yogyakarta] : Universitas Gadjah Mada</publisher><date>2013</date><type>Thesis:Thesis</type><type>PeerReview:NonPeerReviewed</type><identifier> , NOVI DIANA MAHARANI and , Prof (emr).
