  • Background: Health system aims at monitoring and evaluating the achievement of gradual and sustainable implementation by using the standard of measurement or indicator of health development. The Public Health Center of Pante Ceureumen is one of 13 public health centers existing in the coverage of the Health Office of Aceh Barat Regency which covers an area of 152.38 Km2 and consists of 25 villages with 10,725 inhabitants. In the beginning of 2008, Public Health Center of Pante Ceureumen has conducted the application of computerization based management information system aiming at improving the services to the patients. Objective: To evaluate the application of Management Information System of Public Health Center (SIMPUS) at the Public Health Center of Pante Ceureumen, Aceh Barat Regency, particularly from the aspect of input and output, report delivery accuracy, obstacles and support of SIMPUS application. Method of Research: The research applied a qualitative study research with case study design and the result is presented descriptively. The interviews was conducted to the staff of the Public Health Center of Pante Ceureumen, as the research subject, and the data were qualitatively analyzed by transcribing the result of the interview. Result: The interviews was conducted to ten people chosen as the respondents. The result of the research indicates that the Public Health Center of Pante Ceureumen, Aceh Barat Regency has applied SIMPUS in the beginning of March 2008, and the human resources in the Public Health Center predominantly have the ability to operate computer. The budget for the implementation of SIMPUS has not been provided, but the Public Health Center has adopted particular policy. The existing computer facility is very limited so that the implementation of SIMPUS has not been conducted optimally. The output of SIMPUS has not met the demand of the public health center while the result generated by the application of SIMPUS has been utilized for the interest of program management and public health center report. Meanwhile, the obstacles encountered are the absence of particular budget on the application of SIMPUS and the limitedness of computer and personnel. Conclusion: The application of SIMPUS in the Public Health Center of Pante Ceureumen, Aceh Barat Regency has been conducted although it has not been optimal. There has not been financial support and the existing facility is limited. However, the public health center has adopted particular policy and by common commitment, so SIMPUS can be still conducted until now.
