  • Background: Media in which the corpse is an important role in determining the speed of decay of the corpse. To know when the time of death can be seen from the description of the cell lysis histopathology body organs. This study aims to determine the speed difference kidneys cell lysis in Wistar rats dead buried in the soil media and drowned in freshwater based on histopathology imaging. Methods: This research is an experimental research using Wistar rats as a sample. The sample consisted of 10 male Wistar rats for the two treatment groups in which each group consists of five male Wistar rats. The first group would be buried in the soil media, while the second group would be drowned in fresh water. The study lasted for 60 minutes. So that samples were collected from five Wistar rats performed every 12 minutes. Each sample would be made one kidney preparations for histopathologic examination was performed to assess the description of histological changes in kidney structure in Wistar rats. Any reading of the number of the amount of lysis preparations carried out in 100 kidney tubular cells lysis. Result: From the slides, showed that the speed of cell lysis in media land and fresh water there is no significant difference in the hours I and IV. Conclusion: There is no significant difference between the speed of rat’s kidneys cell lysis in media land and fresh water based on the description histopathology. So that way can not be used to present a long time of death. Keywords: Thanatologi, decomposition, kidney cell lysis.
