Sehingga pelaksanaan program kelas ibu balita belum berjalan sesuai dengan ketentuan yang sudah ada. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan evaluasi sehingga dapat mengetahui secara pasti sejauh mana keberhasilan program kelas ibu balita menurunkan angka kematian bayi dan balita.Tujuan penelitian mengevaluasi implementasi kelas ibu balita di puskesmas wilayah kota Surabaya.&#xD; Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan observasional dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian 4 orang informan utama,dan informan triangulasi terbagi dalam 4 kelompok yaitu 2 orang kepala puskesmas, 2 orang petugas gizi, 1 orang kasie yankesda, 4 orang kader. Data dikumpulkan dengan wawancara mendalam, pengolahan data dengan metode analisis isi.&#xD; Hasil penelitian pada tahap persiapan dalam implementasi kelas ibu balita sudah dilakukan oleh bidan pelaksana, pada tahap pelaksanaan yang berupa frekuensi pertemuan bidan rutin melaksanakan kelas ibu balita, pelaksanaan pre tes dan postes bidan belum melaksanakannya, alat bantu yang digunakan masih sangat kurang, untuk metode pembelajaran masih kurang variatif karena keterampilan bidan yang kurang dalam mengolah kelas, sedangkan pada tahap pelaporan pelaksanaan kelas ibu balita cenderung kurang dilakukan oleh bidan, karena kepala puskesmas dan dari dinas kesehatan melakukan kegiatan monitoring evaluasi tidak terjadwal.&#xD; Disarankan untuk berkoordinasi dengan lintas program untuk ikut terlibat dalam pelaksanaan kelas ibu balita. Notwithstanding, the implementation of the program has not been fully successful and has not been in accordance with a current target. Therefore, there needed to evaluate for figuring out to what extent the success of the program in reducing infant and children under five years old mortality rates. The aim of this study was to evaluate the implementation of the class of mothers of children under five years old at health centres in Surabaya City.&#xD; This was an observational study using qualitative approach. Number of main informants were four persons and informants for triangulation purpose were divided into four groups namely two heads of health centres, two nutritionists, a section head of basic health service, and four cadres. Data were collected by conducting indepth interview and analysed using a method of content analysis.&#xD; The results of this research showed that in the step of preparing, midwives had well prepared the class before implementing. However, in the step of implementing, regular meeting and conducting pretest and posttest had not been implemented. In addition, there was a lack of learning tools and not various due to unskilled midwives in managing the class. In the step of reporting, midwives tended to not reporting the implementation of the class because heads of health centres and district health office did not regularly monitor. &#xD; As suggestions, other programs need to be involved in the implementation of the class. Budget needs to be allocated to conduct the class.
