Turkey: State universities and private
universities. Public universities are the
institutions whose necessities, from their
employees to their budgets, are supplied by
the government. Besides being educational
organizations, private universities are also
commercial institutions. Private universities
are managed in a sense of management
method and the libraries are generally
considered a good means of advertising which
will be utilized in the promotion of the
university. In this respect; both on account of
architecture, equipment collection, employee
and technological services, the libraries in
private universities are far ahead of the public
universities.
The aim of this study, in general, is to
propound the profiles of the university
libraries in Turkey. With this aim, the
prominent distinctions of being developed
between the services and opportunities of the
libraries are being analyzed and the extentions
of the difference between public and private
universities are called attention to. Besides;
the distinctions of the quality that two types
of libraries have within themselves are being
tested. In terms of having services and
opportunities, it is seen that the libraries of
the public universities are quite behind the
libraries of private universities. Considering
the level of being developed, both two types
of libraries have different values as well. The
study ends with the suggestions directed
towards the solution of the distinctions under
