Library automation systems.</subject><description>Using an integrated library automation package has become very important to manage collections and service in modern libraries. With the current developments in ICT, Open Source Integrated Library Systems (OSILS) are becoming significant across the world for reasons such as availability of source code, flexibility, cost effectiveness, quality control, in house customization and community support. The present paper investigates the attitude of potential OSILS users especially those using NewGenLib package, towards the adoption of OSILS in Indian scenario. The study aims to find out the major factors that influenced the NewGenLib users from India in adopting OSILS. It also identifies problems related to switching over to OSILS for managing libraries in Indian scenario. The study found that, even though New Gen Lib becoming Open Source has increased its adoption, lack of technical support and shortage of skilled manpower to execute installation, maintenance and customization remains as barricades to its extensive use in India. Based on the observations especially on users of New Gen Lib suggestions are provided for effective use of OSILS in Indian contexts.</description><publisher>Geetanjali Research Publication</publisher><date>2014-10</date><type>Journal:Journal</type><type>PeerReview:PeerReviewed</type><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://eprints.rclis.org/24210/1/Attitude%20of%20NewGenLib%20Software%20Users%20towards%20the%20Adoption%20of%20OSILS%20in%20India.pdf</identifier><identifier> Muruli, . and Gireesh Kumar, T K Attitude of NewGenLib Software Users towards the Adoption of Open Source Integrated Library System in India.
