  • This research aim to determine the existence of avian influenza subtype H9 and its distribution also the risk ratio among three regions in South Kalimantan, Indonesia in population of Alabio duck (Anas platyrynchos borneo). This three regions are Hambuku Raya, Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Utara; Landasan Ulin Utara Banjarbaru; and Live Bird Market Martapura. There are 53 ducks which pooled into 19 samples, from tracheal swab and cloacal swab. These samples were inoculated to SAN embryonated eggs 9-11 days old and tested using HA test and HI antisera of H9 test. There are 2 positive samples with titer 29 from HA test and both of the samples are also positive in HI test using antisera of H9. In Hambuku Raya there is one positive sample from 13 samples, which indicate 7.7% in incidence rate. Meanwhile, in Landasan Ulin Utara there is one positive sample from 3 samples, which indicate 33.3% in incidence rate. In live bird market Martapura shows non positive samples are found. The result of this research showed risk ratio among infected regions value is 0.167, showed region Hambuku Raya is 5.9 less risky compare to Landasan Ulin Utara. But, Landasan Ulin Utara has 3.5 times riskier for the distribution of avian influenza subtype H9 compare to Hambuku Raya.
