The researcher applied pre-experimental design. The population and&#xD; sample of this research were 10 students by followed the number of student in&#xD; grade tenth of SMA-IT Al Biruni Makassar in the academic year 2016/2017 or&#xD; census sampling. Vocabulary test was given in pretest and posttest to know the&#xD; students&#x2019; vocabulary mastery before and after treatment. The result of this&#xD; research shows that the use of circumlocution strategy improved the tenth grade&#xD; students&#x2019; vocabulary mastery at SMA-IT Al Biruni Makassar. The value of t-test&#xD; (7.865) is greater than t-table (2.262) and the degree of freedom (df)=9. It means&#xD; that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is&#xD; accepted.
