- Green and clean is a program that aims to create conditions for a clean, green and health environment to inhabited by society which is achieved through several activities that concern to waste treatment and greening. Processing of household waste consist of sorting, utilization of organic and anorganic waste and manufacturing biopory hole. To manage our environment, beside supported from government and private, must be supported by community especially house wife as first building in their family. The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between house wife characteristics with domestic waste treatment in Lingkungan I Kelurahan Pulo Brayan Darat II Kecamatan Medan Timur Kota Medan. And the type is a descriptive analytic with cross sectional study. Sampling was done by random sampling systematic, with the figure by the number of sample interval is 76 house wife in Lingkungan I Kelurahan Pulo Brayan Darat II. The result of the research got from respondance age they are 15-49 years old. As many as 61 peoples (80,3%), respondance education is education middle catagories, they are 33 peoples (43,4%), the unemployment is 44 peoples (57,9%), have income UMR above are 44 peoples (57,9%), middle knowledge are 49 peoples (64,5%), good attitude are 45 peoples (59,2%). The result from the domestic waste production observation are 44 house (57,9%), doing waste produce is well, while 32 house (42,1%) don’t produce the waste is well. The analize performed by chi-square test shows that there is a relationship between the characteristic of housewife with domestic waste treatment in Lingkungan I Kelurahan Pulo Brayan Darat II except the age and respondance income. Recommended to the community to increase their participation in green and clean program implementation, increasing the socialization, and give information, and pay more careless to environmental problem especially problems of waste.
