- The utilization of medicinal plants of Angkola society in the Padangsidimpuan Hutaimbaru district, has been conducted from January to March 2012. This study used random sampling techniques, interviews and questionnaires. Calculation of the data analysis are Used Value (UVs), Used Value Relative (RUVi), Index of Cultural Significance (ICS), and Knowledge Degradation (D). There are 56 species of medicinal plant classifying into 34 families recorded in the study site. Allium sativum L. showed the highest Used Value (UVs) is 9.479 and the lowest was Sacharum officinarum L. is 1.769. Piper nigrum L showed the highest Used Value Relative (RUVi) and the lowest was Manihot utilisima Pohl with the number are 6.109 and 6.104 respectively. Zingiber officinale Rosc. showed the highest of Cultural Significance (ICS) that is 64.5 and the lowest to Costus specious, Melastoma candidium D.Don., Phylanthus urinaria L, Selaginella deoderleinii Hieron with the number for each species is 15. Degradation of knowledge utilization of medicinal plants was greatest in the age group A (15-29 years) at 12.66%.
