The correlation between students� anxiety and their english learning achievement

There were 109 students as the sample of population and 40 of them were used as the sample of study. There were two variables investigated in this study, namely: students&#xFFFD; anxiety in English learning and English achievement. The method used in this research is quantitative research through correlation technique. In collecting the data the writer did two kinds of instrument which were a questionnaire and the result of the test. The questionnaire aimed to know about anxiety in teaching learning process that was done in the classroom, and the result of the test is aimed to know the students achievement after learning English. The data was analyzed by using SPSS. From the calculation of statistic by applying SPSS program, it was known that the value of coefficient correlation rxy = - 0.657. It is in the interval of 0.41 &#xFFFD; 0.70, this means that the correlation belong to &#xFFFD;medium correlation&#xFFFD; in negative range. In other words, there is a correlation between variable X and variable Y. The result showed that the correlation between students&#xFFFD; anxiety and students&#xFFFD; English learning achievement is significant (rxy = - 0.657). Because of the value of significant lower than level of significant and it is negative (- 0.657 &lt; 0.05), it means that students&#xFFFD; anxiety has negative correlation and it&#xFFFD;s significant to their English achievement. In this research can be concluded that the higher anxiety the students have, the worst English achievement they will get. But, the lower anxiety students have, the better English achievement they will get. So, the null hypothesis (Ho) of the research is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.</description><subject>INGGRIS - BAHASA</subject><identifier>64967</identifier><recordID>64967</recordID></dc>
