The origin of ethical dilemma on the psychiatric patient is patemalistic pattems. Patemalistic practices, wherein providers confer a treatment of service upon a person or persons without their consent, ostensibly by reason of their limited autonomy or diminished capacity, are common in the psychiatric nursing.
