  • Recently, English writing has become an important tool for people of all walks of life in todayÂ’s global community. English writing helps the students to practice their thinking organization. This study intended to investigate the types of errors and explored the frequency of error of studentsÂ’ argumentative essay writing written by the semester v of English Language Department students of A and B class of University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Qualitative descriptive research design was employed for this study. The research subjects of this study consisted of forty students of A and B of writing III class. The instruments to collect the data were documents analysis and interview guide. Moreover, the documents consisted of five of studentsÂ’ argumentative essay writing which is worked in groups. Furthermore, the researcher conducted semi-structured interview. The findings shows that the total errors of this study is 110 errors, they are divided into four types of errors; omission errors possessed 69 errors, addition errors possessed 14 errors, misformation possessed 20 errors, and misordering 7 errors. For the most dominant error, Omission error dominates in studentsÂ’ argumentative essay writing.
