Yield Potential and Seed Oil Content of the Harvest Jatropha Curcus Linn in Bayan, Nort Lombok West Nusa Tenggara and Kedung Pengaron, Pasuruan East Java
Daftar Isi:
- Jatropha curcas is one of potential commodities for bio-fuel energy source. However, larger cultivation of Jatropha for commercial purpose faced some hindrances, one of which was the absence of yielding variety, especially the variety that was tolerant to specific environmental conditions. This study aimed at generating information of jatropha’s yield potential and oil content of several crossbreeding varieties of the first harvest in Nort Lombok and Pasuruan plantations. The study was conducted in Bayan village, North Lombok District-West Nusa Tenggara and Kedung Pengaron village, Pasuruan District-East Java. The study applied four crossbred numbers of Jatropha, they are 5:(SP8XSP16), 6:(SP8XSP38), 7:(SP33XHS49), 18:(SM35XSP38) and 2 comparative crop varieties set by the Minister of Agricuture; IP3A and IP3P. Vegetative observation was identified through crop height and branch tip quantity; whereas generative observation was done by calculating the number of bunches per plant, seed dry weight per plant and 100 seeds dry weight . The result showed that the crossbred of SP8XSP16 produced the fastest harvesting time in both plantations. The four numbers of crossbreds (SP8XSP16 ; SP8XSP38 ; SP33XHS49 ; SM35XSP38) yielded higher level of seed dry weight and seed oil content compared to both IP3A and IP3P.
