  • Background- JNC-VIII says that by 2025, an estimated 1.56 billion adults worldwide will have hypertension. Continuous increase in blood pressure in primary hypertensive patients will result in damage to blood vessels in vital organs. Stress management with relaxation techniques is considered important as a treatment of hypertension, with progressive muscle relaxation and slow deep breathing.Goal - This study aims to determine the effectiveness of progressive muscle relaxation with slow deep breathing exercise against the decrease in blood pressure in patients with primary hypertension in the work area Puskesmas Padangsari Semarang City.Method - The type of research used is quasy experiment with the design of two groups pre test and post test without control group design in two groups: progressive muscle relaxation with number of respondent 34 and slow deep breathing were 34 respondents so total respondsent 68.
