BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICE DALAM PENGOLAHAN KARET CRUMB RUBBER (STUDI KASUS DI PT. REMCO PALEMBANG)

- The objectives of this research were to: (1) analyze the application of BMP (Best Management Practice) on crumb rubber processing at PT. REMCO Palembang (2) formulates the strategy needed in the application of BMP on crumb rubber processing at PT. REMCO. This research was conducted in Palembang. The selection of research sites is done intentionally (purposive) with the consideration that PT. REMCO is one of the crumb rubber processing factories in Kecamatan Kertapati Palembang that have implemented BMP (Best Management Practice) but not yet perfect. Data were collected in January to February 2018. The method used in this research is case study method. For data collection methods consist of primary data and secondary data. Primary data obtained by direct interviews to respondents in PT. REMCO with the help of questionnaires in which respondents are key informant. While secondary data obtained from relevant agencies such as plantation service, directorate general of plantation as well as some library materials that relate to research as supporting research results. Data processing methods obtained by using scoring method and SWOT strategy analysis as measured through 5 indicators of this research. The result of this research indicated that the processing of crumb rubber in PT. REMCO as a whole is almost in accordance with the standard of Best Management Practice (BMP) wich is determined based on Standard of Rubber Processing SIR of 2000. Stages of the best crumb rubber processing is at the milling stage with the indicator score 12. Based on SWOT analysis results, the threats to be faced are the competitiveness of distribution and sales of high quality products are tight so that required strategies to overcome them by improving and optimizing the quality of crumb rubber production at each satge of processing in accordance with the recommended standard of BMP. At the same time, the opportunity to be obtained is the existence of the other company buyers of crumb rubber products so the strategy needed to increase the amount of crumb rubber production so that buyers of crumb rubber product increased wich will impact on the increasing of the revenue at PT. REMCO.
