Pharmacology</subject><subject>RS1-441 Pharmacy and materia medica</subject><description>Petai&#x2019;s Seeds (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) contain flavonoid, alkaloid, tannin, saponin, steroid, and phenolic so it could act as antihyperlipidemia. This study purposed to know antihyperlipidemia effect of ethanol extract petai&#x2019;s seeds towards total cholesterol level and LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) level reduction. Male wistar albino rats were divided into 5 groups, negative control group (Na CMC 0.5%), positive control group (simvastatin 0,193 mg/200 gBB), and three treatment groups of ethanol extract petai&#x2019;s seeds with dosage 99,5 mg/200 gBB, 199 mg/200 gBB, and 398 mg/200 gBB. The rats were given high-fat supplement and propylthiouracil for 15 days to increase cholesterol, and the extract given for the next 15 days. Rats total cholesterol level after induced can be stated as hyperlipidemia if &gt;54 mg/dL and LDL level &gt;27 mg/dL. The result showed ethanol extract petai&#x2019;s seeds dosage 398 mg/200 gBB could reduce total cholesterol level and LDL level significantly of 30,52&#xB1;3,2581 mg/dL and 16,46&#xB1;2,3044 mg/dL. This point indicated that the ethanol extract petai&#x2019;s seeds has an antihyperlipidemia activity and there is significant difference compared with negative control group (p&lt;0.05).
