  • Ni/Al layered double hydroxides material and intercalated Ni/Al with polyoxometalate K4[α-SiW12O40].nH2O had successfully synthesized which ware characterized using XRD, BET, FT-IR spectrophotometer, and pH point zero charge analysis. Ni/Al layered double hydroxide material and intercalated with polyoxometalate K4[α-SiW12O40].nH2O have been used as adsorbent of Cr(VI) and Fe(II) ion. The factors that influence the adsorption process was studied with adsorption time variation, concentration, and adsorption temperature. The results of the characterization using XRD showed that the Ni / Al layered double hydroxide material has a distance interlayer of 7.408 Å and and the result of intercalation has a distance interlayer of 10.533 Å. The result of BET analysis showed an increase in the surface area from 58.114 m2/g to 116.161 m2/g. FT-IR spectra of Ni/Al layered double hydroxide shows the vibrations (〖"NO" 〗_"3" ^"-" ) at wavenumber 1381.03 cm-1. Intercalated Ni/Al layered double hydroxide show vibration (Si-O-Si) at wavenumber 1103.28 cm-1 and at vibrations (W-Oe-W) with wavenumber 887.26 cm-1 and still there are peaks around 1300 cm-1 and around 1600 cm-1 which show that nitrate and carbonate remain in the result intercalation. The results of pH point zero charge measurements for Ni/Al layered double hydroxide and intercalated of Ni/Al layered double hydroxide by the polyoxometalate compound K4[α-SiW12O40].nH2O is at pH 8. Adsorption Cr(VI) ion is more in line with the pseudo second order kinetic equation and adsorption Fe (II) ion is more in line with the pseudo first order kinetic equation. The adsorption process of Cr(VI) and Fe(II) ions is endothermic and the adsorption process is spontaneous.
