- Illegal logging refers to a series ofsuch forestry-related acts as timber logging, transporting, and proc~sing including both local and export-import trades, which are illegal or not in accordance with the existing laws, or the one which is environmentally harmful. Illegal logging potentially causes pollution and other environmental damage, resulting in the extinction ofits inhibiting ecosystem. This research, using literary study method, is to examine the implementation of the Law No. 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management in illegal logging practices. The findings suggest that illegal logging, in fact, causes pollution and other environmental damage and thus both directly and indirectly harms the physical, chemical, and biological properties beyond the tolerated standard
