Understanding the best OSH practices in other countries will give Indonesia a good benchmark for promoting and enhancing the capabilties of its agencies in promoting a safety culture, knowing from facts how high the humber of work accidents are. From this study we see the significance of several employee participation schemes like safety committees and safety representatives. Safety committees have been found to be effective in bringing together a collective strength in the planning, design, and implementation of safety and heath programs, while safety representatives bring labor union participation and employee voice in similarly planning, designing, and implementing such programs.
